School and tax question
we received a 1098t from the school DH has been taking classes (online) and it lists the amount billed, under amount paid it's $0 and the amount of grants/scholarships is the same amount as the amount billed... We pay for the classes (it shows on the LES as "tuition debt") we are assuming because the Army pays for it first and we repay the Army that to the school it looks like a grant or scholarship of some sort. I read somewhere we should get something from the Army or have it listed on the W2 that we paid for the classes, but it wasn't on the W2 and we haven't seen anything else about the classes, so do we not get to claim this on taxes now even though we paid over $2000 this year for schooling??
And who would we contact/talk to about it???
