My Fit StationThe days are getting longer and the air is getting warmer. Spring is on it’s way, and after a particularly cold, dreary, and icy winter, it’s time to spruce up our meals, too. Comfort foods like chili, soups, and warm dishes are out. Light, fresh, and airy meals are in. Here are 8 spring recipes to bring you out of winter funk and into the spring feeling.

Springtime is full of bright colors, light and airy feelings, and fresh, new beginnings. You can bring the feelings of spring home to your family through the one way that is sure to warm their hearts- through their bellies! These 8 spring recipes will help you say goodbye to the winter blues and hello to the fresh, delicious foods of spring. The best thing about these recipes are that:

  • They’re easy to make- Whether your service member is home or away, life is just busy. These recipes are easy to whip up on the fly because if anything is true in military life is that you have to be flexible.
  • They’re quick- Stick them in the slow cooker or give yourself just a little bit of time to get these dishes ready. Perfect for when your service member is deployed and making dinner seems to be a chore and a half.
  • They are easily paired down- These recipes can be easily made into smaller portions so that you aren’t tempted to make your kids chicken nuggets- again- for dinner so you don’t waste whole meals.

1. One Pan Chicken and Spinach Gnocchi

This meal is made all in one pan (less dishes!) and is bright and colorful, which makes it perfect for spring.
