Meet the Top Military Friendly Brands

The Military Friendly® Brands Designation, one of four components of the Military Friendly® Companies ratings, measures a company’s social and material investment in support of the military and veteran community, including consumer supports and protections. Organizations earning the Military Friendly® Brand designation were evaluated using public data sources, personal feedback from military community members, and responses from Military Friendly® ’s proprietary survey in these areas:

There are four broad classes of indicators:

1: POLICY & GOVERNANCE – Overall corporate governance, policies and practices have been adopted in support of the military community.

2: TRANSPARENCY – Community investment and engagement is made publicly available and the organization rates favorably in federal consumer compliance and protection programs.

3: CONSUMER – Customer service and support policies, as well as marketing practices, are designed to meet military and veteran consumer needs and satisfaction.

4: COMMUNITY – An assessment of the organization’s military, veteran community, and consumer relationships, stakeholder engagement initiatives and public policy positions.

The Military Friendly® Brands benchmarking survey is based on national and international corporate social responsibility measures and standards, including the ISO 26000. According to recent and widely published research such as the Nielsen Global Survey on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), consumers around the world are saying loud and clear that a brand’s social purpose is among the factors that influence purchasing decisions. CSR refers to an organization’s self-implemented policies designed to ensure a company’s active compliance with the spirit of the law, ethical standards and societal norms.

The objective of any CSR policy is to ensure that a company’s financial goals are aligned with a social mission to provide positive impact through the organization’s activities on the environment, consumers, employees, communities, stakeholders and all other members of the public sphere. Currently missing from CSR and other consumer efforts is visibility into a corporation’s support for the military and veteran community.

The Military Friendly® Brands program rates organizations that have a defined mission to support the military and veteran community. Companies receiving the Military Friendly® Brands designation have demonstrated a significant level of transparency along with evidence of their support for the military and veteran community through financial, in-kind donations, employee volunteerism and other military and veteran community leadership and advocacy.
