2. People you know everywhere you go
Being a part of the military community is a military spouse benefit. It makes the world a whole lot smaller. I can remember growing up hearing my father say “What a small Navy!” when we would PCS and he’d run into Sailors he served with 10, 15 years before. I learned this firsthand on my deployment a couple years ago. I was going to be away from all of my family for the first time ever over the holidays and we were porting in a foreign country that didn’t really celebrate Christian holidays. Imagine how great it was when I realized a friend from my home town happened to be stationed there and was willing to open his apartment to me and my merry band of misfits for Christmas Eve dinner (here’s that story!) It may be hard to say “see you later” to friends as PCS move season comes around but you never know when you’ll run into them again…or when you’ll need an amazing place to vacation and they have a couch to crash on!
