FISHER HOUSE RELEASES FREE SCHOLARSHIP SEARCH TOOL FOR MILITARY FAMILIES
|
For 17 Years, Fisher House Foundation has provided scholarships to help military families, including the Scholarships for Military Children Program, the Heroes’ Legacy Scholarship programs, and grants to the National Military Family Association’s (NMFA) scholarship program for military spouses. This year Fisher House Foundation is proud to announce their new online scholarship search engine, Scholarships for Service.
Ken Fisher, CEO of Fisher House Foundation, explained how this new tool came about:
“Because of Fisher House Foundation’s own scholarship programs, we routinely received calls asking if we knew of any other financial resources available to help service members, veterans, and their families with college funding. We did the best we could to pass on information about other scholarship programs, but we came to recognize that we were only scratching the surface and needed to do more.”
Today, there are thousands of scholarships available specifically for applicants with a military affiliation, but the greatest challenge is finding them. While there are other scholarship search services available, most of them are not optimized to identify solely those scholarships tailored to the military community.
This year, Fisher House Foundation has developed the Scholarships for Service free online scholarship search engine to address this need. This tool is available at https://search.militaryscholar.org/.
- Scholarships for Service is a public resource to help students of families with a military service background to find those scholarships specifically intended for active, guard and reserve military, veterans, retired military personnel or their families.
- All scholarships available on this web application are made freely available to military personnel and their families at no cost thanks to Fisher House Foundation.
- The web application was developed by AdmitHub, experts in providing college application support, scholarship search assistance, and enrollment advising.
- This service is provided for the benefit of military families and will not be exploited or commercialized by the providers. At no point will Fisher House Foundation or AdmitHub gather, sell, or share any personal information that applicants enter while using this resource.
“Our goal was simple: provide something free, easy to use, and available on a mobile phone, tablet or computer that will provide access to the many scholarships available to military families.”
Students can enter brief background information and educational goals and the search tool will identify military-affiliated scholarships they may be eligible for based on their input. Once the search is complete, students can view a list of scholarships, complete with a summary of eligibility requirements, points of contact, and links to the scholarship provider’s website. Students can even elect to have a PDF file of the results emailed to them to help them as they select which scholarships to apply for.
Fisher House Foundation and AdmitHub are excited to rollout this tool commensurate with their 2017 scholarship application season. Visit www.militaryscholar.org to learn more.
