For those who are struggling to figure out where to start with enrolling in school, check out this list of Military Friendly schools. You’d be amazed to find out that there are schools that will offer free tuition, discounted tuition, free books, additional grants, and a laundry list of perks for being park of the military community.
I went to Ashford University and because I was active duty I spent a grand total of $150 to receive my degree. They supplied tuition, books and tech fees. The only thing I paid for was my actual diploma to be sent to me. Now I’m at Liberty University and again they offer programs for active duty, veterans and family members to help with the cost of school since that is one of the biggest stressors people face when enrolling in college.
Speaking of cost, if that is the only thing stopping you from going back to college it is time to stop hiding behind that excuse. MyCAA, the GI Bill transfer program, scholarships, grants and tuition assistance is out there. You just have to reach for it. Find out if your job is as amazing as Starbucks. They offer free tuition to their employees!
And if your veteran is an employee then guess what….they offer it to you too! You’d be surprised to find out how many companies offer some sort of college incentive program. Take another look at your contract and see if there are perks you can take advantage of while you work.
Is your head spinning yet? I know this is a lot to process. But know that if you want to go back to college the door is wide open. All you have to do is step through it and start pursuing your dreams. Trust me, it will be worth the homework when you’re holding that degree.
