Years as a service member: 4
When I stepped out of my own service to follow my husband’s career, my transition into being a military spouse without wearing my own uniform was a lot harder than I thought it would be. I wasn’t sure where I fit into the community and I struggled with feeling very isolated. As I was finishing up my MBA in project management, I decided to found the 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Homefront Room Revival. Throughout my experience in military life I had seen many gaps in community support services for military families. I wanted to creatively combat resiliency challenges, bring spouses together to heal through the arts, and also give back outreach and home furnishings to those families struggling during adverse times. I am a veteran entrepreneur. I love everything I do; what it stands for, and all the lives we continue to change through my organization. I found myself and healed through starting it, and the programs we created have strengthened many other military families to do the same. My hope is to be able to become a voice in our military community that advocates for military life improvement programs to proactivity solve resiliency challenges. I want to advocate as not only the military spouse, but as a veteran who has also seen it firsthand.
