I am extremely passionate about access to mental health needs and substance use disorder treatment. I am working on my master’s in social work and in conjunction, my certification as an alcohol and drug counselor. These issues are a priority for me, especially as I see the statistics of members suffering from drug addiction rising. I have held board positions and led many committees within the Jersey Cape Military Spouses Club. Most notably I have helped run Stockings for Recruits; which is a program devoted to the recruits who are at boot camp on Christmas. We spent three months fundraising to fill a stocking for each of them; the excess funds are utilized for dependent scholarships in the summer. Each year we are able to give away approximately $20,000. I believe strongly in focusing on the mental health and substance use area but know that there are many other issues that are impacting families. With the recent government shutdown, I learned a lot about the junior enlisted issues. Being able to increase the resources available to them, like a base-sponsored pantry, is an issue that is very important to me. I want to use this platform to connect with families and find ways to help them with their highest needs
