I want to start dialogue and a plan of action to increase communication between National Guard units and families. I am determined to strengthen the Family Readiness program, and create a support network for the Guard families. My husband and I created Project 33 Memorial Foundation. It is a nonprofit organization created to honor the lives of Special Operations soldiers killed in action since 9/11/01. A voice for the Quiet Professionals. We are a growing organization and had our first event last Memorial Day, 2018. We select one soldier each year to honor, and tell the story of their life and sacrifice from January through May on our Facebook page. Last year, we honored SPC Kristofor Stonesifer, a U.S. Army Ranger killed in action on Oct. 19, 2001, when his UH-60 Black Hawk Helicopter crashed during the invasion of Afghanistan. Our funds raised during last year’s events were donated to the Gary Sinise Foundation. I would like to advocate for the Special Forces Guard families. Special Forces Guard is a unique entity, wives do not have a central place such as the FRG for support and information. I would like to bridge the gap between the active side of the Army and the National Guard. National Guard families in Special Forces are scattered in multiple states; a hurdle to overcome when building unity for the team families. As a health care provider, I would like to advocate for stronger education for families and health insurance. I wish to create a Tricare 101 type of manual that may be distributed to the spouses to help them navigate the system.
