39) “My retired sailor getting a job with the VA helping his brothers and sisters with spinal cord injuries. The job, although just enough to cover some of the bills, allows my husband to give back to those that give so much.”
38) “After three miscarriages, we weren’t ready to keep trying and had given up hope. We started talking about adoption or putting money away to hire a surrogate… and here we are, seven months pregnant!”
37) “I’m thankful that my husband was able to come home for our son’s birth.”
36) “Thankful for unexpected kindness of strangers this year while my husband was deployed.”
35) “I am most thankful for my non-traditional mechanical and troubleshooting skills. When your husband is deployed and almost everything in your house and garage decides to break or breakdown, it is nice to be able to fix and figure stuff out on his own.
34) “Facetime! I can still see my precious husband… even when the sound doesn’t work I still can see him, and for that I am thankful.”
33) “I am thankful for our travel trailer. We have been waiting for housing for a few months, and while it is cramped at times, it does feel like home and allows us to avoid moving twice.”
32) “I know it sounds crazy, but I am thankful that my husband decided NOT to retire from the military at his 20 year anniversary this year. The military has been such a big part of his life, and ours as a couple. It has brought us so many great experiences and even helped me get my current job. I know he would miss it if he left. So I would rather he be happy; even if it means drill weekends, AT and training schools, and the possibility of another deployment. I think I would miss the military life a little bit too.”
31) “I am thankful for the circle of friends, military and non-military, I have gained while being ‘stuck’ in Norfolk for my husband’s entire career (so far), though we wanted to be stationed car as many places as possible. I am just getting over postpartum depression (I was suicidal), and it was at its worst while my husband was underway. It turns out that our less-adventurous life ended up being a lifesaver.”
30) “That my oldest daughter is cancer free. She is on the road of living life again so we are blessed.”
