Utah was our favorite! So much to do. You get all 4 seasons. It was just such a beautiful place to live. Alaska is definitely a close second.

Vermont. I love snow and fall in Vermont is beautiful and Lake Champlain is beautiful. Plus we aren’t far from Boston, Cape Cod, NY, Salem, Plymouth, Canada etc. We are here because of recruiting 🙂

As a Navy Brat my favorite place was Naples, Italy 91 – 95! The food, the history, the culture it was an amazing experience everyone should have. As an Army wife, it’s a tie between Schofield Barracks, Hawaii and Fort Detrick, MD. Hawaii made me learn to appreciate life and be an independent woman. I loved their “go beach” philosophy. Sick, “go beach”. Tired, “go beach”. Sad, “go beach”. It was wonderful. Fort Detrick is just a beautiful part of the country. People are wonderful. Lots of history. Perfect distance to DC and Baltimore. Great place to live, work and explore.

Coast Guard family here. I thought I loved Hawaii until we went to Monterey. My husband loves the tiny Oregon town where we are stationed now.

Favorite place…Germany! We had so many opportunities for travel and culture. I wish I had been older and could have traveled more. The schools were great. The teachers were the best! We lived there 4 years. I was 13 when we left. Favorite state…Ft Wainwright, Alaska! I was in high school while we were there and I had lots of great friends. I met my husband there, got married there, had our 1st son there, and now he’s stationed there! (Currently deployed though?) Proud Army brat, Army wife, and Army mom!

San Diego Lincoln military housing was amazing to us. We were in a small community near the Miramar base, and they were always going all out for our community. Very family oriented. I’ve never experienced another like it. Hawaii was my favorite location of course, but the housing in San Diego was above and beyond.

Florida! Being from PA, I now understand “snow birds” and why so many people retire to Florida…we will eventually retire there also. Love the weather, lots of things to do year round, the best beaches! I have to add that we also loved our time in Italy and the opportunity to travel in Europe, but I was ready to get back stateside after 3 years there.

Alaska!!! So much to do and a great mix of culture for modern food choices yet laid back and casual. And people love to be outside. And it’s like living in a postcard it’s so pretty.

Quantico, Virginia. So much to do, good schools, all 4 seasons, jobs for spouses, many military. Loved it!

We loved Hawaii, Joint base Pearl Harbor Hickam, for a total of 7 years. We had a beautiful home, great neighbors and a true sense of community. The weather of course was amazing, the access to the beach and all the tourist attractions, camping at Bellows, learning to Sup, food trucks, and having our kids enjoy the true Aloha. I could have lived and died there and miss it every single day.

Massachusetts! Great schools. We live 45 minutes from base to get cheaper housing (our mortgage on a 4,000 sq house is the same as we would pay for a basic house on base). The weather isn’t so bad – love having all four seasons, but it’s not as cold in the winter or as hot in the summer as Minnesota (where we were before). Lots to do in the Boston area and surrounding. We love New England, and we decided to make it our forever home (despite not having any family here).

Hurlburt in Fortwalton Beach, Florida. Literally so many awesome places close by like the beach, tourist events, 8hr drive to houston and disney isnt so far either. So many spouse jobs available and there are parks EVERY WHERE! Events are almost nonstop (bazaars, festivals, small shop events)

Kings Bay Ga baby! I loved living in a beautiful small town while having quick access to 2 large towns. Jacksonville Fl to the south and Brunswick Ga to the north. I was raised most of my life in Jacksonville so I am biased, however most of my family is gone now and I still can’t wait to go home to Ga! I will say though that Groton Ct is coming in a good second place the more time I spend here.

North Carolina! NC has the BEST State Park system. Beaches, mountains, museums, entertainment venues, sport teams, orchards and vineyards. 4 seasons. ♥️♥️♥️

Altus,OK We LOVED our church family at Martha Road Baptist Church. The schools k5-12 were top notch! The base was amazing, slower pace then normal bases. The people were amazing. We were so close to Dallas and Tulsa…. I could go on and on. LOVED being stationary at Altus AFB!

We are only on our second duty station and about to go to the third (hallelujah) but I will say Ft Leavenworth was beautiful all year except winter. Kansas City and Lawrence are awesome towns; the BBQ is fantastic; great wineries; and the people are so nice. I’m from Florida so I HATE winter and much rather live in the south but for those who get Leavenworth, there’s so much to enjoy!

So this is actually my milkid experience, so time may have soften the edges of any problems, but I have the FONDEST memories of North Carolina. We were stationed at New River, and I remember the housing was sooo nice (although that could just be because what we had come from was terrible). It was my first opportunity to go to an on-base school, and being surrounded by classmates and teachers who “got it” was a revelation. I remember being in love with the pine trees, and experiencing “seasons” (we came from a double stay in florida). There were cute little towns that we could drive to on the weekends and go shopping. And during that post is when we had most of our really fun road trips, to Asheville and DC and New York and Maine. Honestly though, it was the sheer size of the Lejune community that did it. My entire life I had been the weird kid, the new kid, the outsider, and to suddenly be surrounded by others like me, to have a whole pack of kids to roam housing with, to have a movie theater I could walk to with my friends, to go to a school totally populated by people like me… It’s been decades, but in my memories it was paradise.

Ft Polk, LA. It’s truely the hidden treasure of military posts! We live about 20 minutes south in DeRidder. Quiet town. Good schools. Great people and even better food!!!

Michigan!!! No bases around. It’s 4 season weather. And it’s an outdoorsy type of state!! ?I was married late into this life. And being on Oahu for 2 1/2 years was too much for me. I love snow. And cool nights by the campfire. Forests etc. It was a little overwhelming with all the bases on one super tiny island for someone whom did not grow up in military life nor got married into one early on. I think it’s different strokes for different folks!

Washington State- incredibly beautiful & peaceful environment. The snow capped mountains, Colombian river, & evergreens are all at once in view. We’ve been to numerous duty stations & after 22 years, I believe the environment you live in helps with all of the ins & outs of military life.
