The Things We Love
“My favorite part is welcoming new babies! I think last year I made 36 meals and more than 40 baby blankets – and I enjoyed every minute of it. I love to hear the sounds of children at family socials, too. Military children are the most important part of this life for me.”
“It is the best ride ever!”
“We get to see the heart of our installation and the hearts of the Airmen. It’s a magnificent opportunity, one I’m grateful for.”
“I have an immense amount of pride in my spouse’s accomplishments, work ethic, and leadership qualities. Knowing he is fulfilling his life’s ambition and God’s purpose for his life, helps our family manage the challenges of his command.”
“By the time my spouse was honored with a Command, we had spent many years living all the ups and downs of military life. Never had I seen such enjoyment and pride in my spouse than those days of his Command, even on the ‘bad’ days. The privilege of experiencing my spouse’s joy during that time of his career comes with much gratitude to all the service members and their families.”
“I absolutely adored every time my husband was in command. It was the best time of our lives.”
“I love being apart of graduations, promotions and awards. The pride my husband feels when his troops are recognized, I can see that his heart just wants to burst – it is what makes me love him.”
“As a command spouse, I deeply cared what happened to all of the families. I loved their children; I loved the spouses and their commitment. Oh, their resilience took my breath away some days! I had a saying, ‘no one can to cry alone in my presence – I’ll cry with them.'” I miss the days of when my husband was in command.”
“Being the spouse of a group commander has given me the opportunity to learn about how our military functions and the purpose of many different air force missions. Knowing more about what my spouse does and why, helps manage the challenges we face as a military family.”
