40) Keep a journal.
41) Learn a new skill.
42) Think happy thoughts. Keep the negative thoughts as far away as possible. And always remember to smile. You are stronger then you think.
43) Trust and communication! We read the same book so we have something to discuss. Something like a relationship book. “The 5 Love Languages” was great!
44) Have a sense of humor!
45) Don’t get so wrapped up in the deployment itself that your life stops!
46) Adopt a “CAN DO!” attitude. We spouses are far from helpless! With a little elbow grease, a handy base services telephone directory and supportive friends, we can get through any deployment.
47) Go with the flow. Don’t freak out when things go wrong. They are going to go wrong. I personally call them “evil deployment fairies” and they come out to play the minute your spouse heads out the door.
48) Save as much money as you can and use part of that saved money to treat yourselves when your spouse returns.
49) Don’t dwell. It’s OK to occasionally have a sad day but that’s it.
50) Breathe.
