Happy SPOUSE, Happy SERVICE

Do you want an escape? Do you need to take a breath? Do you miss your friends and just desire someone to chat with that understands? Do you need a boost or a break?

What if I told you that there is new place opening up on every military base just for you? It hasn’t been named yet, but it is solely for spouses and their children. We will call it the “Space of Spouses” for now.

“SOS” is a symbol for relaxation, relief, restoration, and renew. Inside you will find the shelter you didn’t even know you needed. Through the front doors you are welcomed into a top-of-the-line cafe with your favorite refreshments and spouses lounging around sharing stories and laughs. You spot a quiet corner designated for reading and reflection as well as an arts and crafts room packed with spouses expressing their gifts. Behind the next corridor you see children enjoying their 2 hour/day allotted time in the clean, well-managed, safe, and FUN children’s facility. You glance over at your friends in a pilates class next door to a very inviting workout room. There is a private space toward the back that provides resources for help you may be looking for whether it be physical, mental, or spiritual. Just when you knew you wanted in, there was more. You are led through a peaceful hallway to a retreat just for you. A spa awaits you. You spot a hot tub, sauna, and luxurious locker room. The only thought left is “How do I get in on this!?” It only costs $50 per month for unlimited access. Would you pay? How much would you pay? Would you like to work here part time and enjoy discounted access to the facility? What if this facility was a non-profit, run by spouses and for spouses?

The only question left is: How bad do we want a space like this? How hard will we push to make this what-could-be-reality come true? How much difference do we believe it could make in our Military life and that of our spouses’?

Many know that a happy spouse makes for a happy serviceman or woman. Here’s to us paving our way to better possibilities and better support for our spouses in service.

This is a call to every man or woman that calls themselves a Military Spouse. Let us get loud! If not for ourselves, let us shout for the weary and worn down spouses who could really use a lift. For anyone who knows anyone or any way to help make a dream like this come true, this message is for you. Let us fight for “SOS”, for we know its worth, and its place and the difference it will make.

Here’s to SERVICE, and here’s to SPOUSE.

(Like, share, and spread the message!)
