May is the month we say thank you again,
to our uniformed troops, both women and men.
~
To their families, their husbands, their kids and their wives,
for their service, their sacrifice and sometimes their lives.
~
We pay homage abound for their sleepless nights,
as they move and deploy to protect all our rights.
~
Their spouses are strong and take care of all things,
they deal with Murphy and all that he brings.
~
They postpone their career, their dreams, and their vision,
to fly solo most times for the sake of the mission.
~
Their kids are no different, are resilient in spades,
but that sure doesn’t mean that they don’t have hard days.
~
They work to stay strong and count down the days,
but in military life, nearly everyone pays.
~
They keep going to school, play with friends and stay true,
but be sure to remember that Mil-Kids serve too.
~
Last but not least, our loved ones who serve;
past, present and future they lend us their nerve.
~
They deploy for our country, sometimes gone very long.
Currently gone are 300,000 strong.
~
They’ve chosen this life and have risked limb and neck,
made the conscious decision to sign that blank check.
~
United we stand and divided we fall,
so let’s also remember those troops who gave all.
~
If you’re really not sure what to say to these folks,
and your words seem to get all caught in your throat…
~
Just look up and smile and reach for their hand;
and say “thank you for always protecting this land,”
~
Say, “thank you for all of your nights without rest,
and for being the one always put to the test.”
~
“Thank you for everything, all that you do.
My family is safer and its all thanks to you.”
~
Active, retired, reserve, guard or vet,
Let us think of them always and never forget.
