I proudly serve my country’s Navy combat team with HONOR, COURAGE, AND COMMITMENT.
During the hardest times of my enlistment, I never wavered in my commitment to service. I did not let my work suffer because of personal problems, because I knew I was not just going to harm myself, but I would harm my team as well.
I showed as much courage as possible when I left home. I left everything I had grown up with in order to pursue a dream. I took a leap of faith (literally) off the carrier to have a once in a lifetime experience.
I pushed boundaries, enrolling in classes no one thought I could complete, because I knew without taking great risks, I couldn’t expect great rewards.
And I hope that my fellow Sailors will say I served with honor, upholding the values and traditions passed down through the years.
I am proud to say that I served. I am proud to be who I am now, thanks to my time in the military.
And while it is bittersweet to walk away from this life I’ve known, I am proud to be able to focus on my education, my family, my future with the skills I learned while serving this great nation.
