This week, three of our MSOYS: 2011 AFI Military Spouse of the Year Bianca Strzalkowsi, 2012 AFI Military Spouse of the Year Jeremy Hilton and 2013 Military Spouse of the Year Alicia Hinds Ward, discussed the War in Afghanistan in national news stories.
In an article published today, Nobember 20, 2013, Bianca Strzalkowski and Jeremy Hilton voice their experiences and concerns.
‘But I honestly think for the first time, at least in my experience of being around the military for 15 years, we are war fatigued,” said Bianca Strzalkowski, whose husband, a Marine Corps gunnery sergeant, returned in August from Afghanistan.’

On Monday, NBC news shared an piece in which Alicia Hinds Ward addressed preparedness and the experiences of military families during past- and potentially in future government shutdowns.
“We’re not looking for handouts or for any person to take care of us. We just want that assurance from our government that we’re going to receive the wages we’ve earned. It’s not too much to ask. We give our all to this country. And yes, it’s absolutely a slap in the face imposed on us by our elected officials,” said Hinds Ward, who was named the 2013 Armed Forces Insurance Military Spouse of the Year, in part for aiding folks in need.”
