How To Make Your Quarantine Birthday Special

We know these are challenging times, and so many important things have been cancelled. We asked military spouses how they’re making birthdays special during COVID-19 quarantine.

Here are some of our favorites!

My birthday is on Easter this year. I bought some festive party supplies—Peter Rabbit themed. The kids and I will decorate the downstairs, watch Peter Rabbit, and have carrot cake and jelly beans for dessert! Even though we cannot go anywhere, we’re still going to party and enjoy each other’s company.❤️??

It’s my husband’s birthday today. We had a take-out parking lot picnic dinner and finished the evening with cupcakes and presents. Very low key, but very memorable. -Becky K.

Our senior aged special needs brother lives in a group home and we were unable to visit him on his birthday. My sister’s family took all the presents and, after tying balloons to a chair on his porch, left the gifts on it throughout the day. Then they would then call his cell and tell him to go outside to find another surprise. By standing at the end of the walk we were able to get some pictures. He said it was a wonderful day! BTW I think the gift he appreciated most was the toilet paper from his nephew.

My 3 yr old wants a halloween birthday in May ?‍♀️. We are going to dress up in costumes, decorate the house and have each room a different trick or treat station with an activity.

My friends and family participated in a Card Party for my 9 year olds birthday this past Monday. Other kids made beautiful drawings, learned how to address envelopes. My daughter was so excited and we turned it into a geography lesson with the cards received from all over the US.

Our neighborhood is doing a parade. Anyone wishing to attend decorates their own vehicle. Everyone meets at a parking lot at a certain time and they drive past the birthday boy or girls home. Another family is doing sidewalk Chalk art in front of The birthday boy/girls home. (There was a post for anyone wishing to have their child celebrated this way.)

Our H??R? is currently deployed and due to world restrictions, international mail was put to a halt. We had a virtual birthday party for him! We even had cake! -Ruth G.

Our little girl is turning three next week. On my Walmart trip today for groceries I picked up a present she’s been asking for, and some outdoor toys for the backyard. Planning on making her a really special cake and having the living room decorated for her in the morning. Lots of FaceTime calls from friends and family.

My youngest will be 14 tomorrow. Ordering delivery of her favorite lunch and dinner tomorrow and making her favorite foods all weekend. Letting her order her favorite movies on demand. Video chatting with the family.?

We’re going to completely transform our house into a nerf gun play land for our son’s 11th birthday. Complete with hanging targets, painted boxes, tons of balloons and streamers to go with the theme.

My birthday is on the 7th and between COVID and my husband being deployed, my 25th birthday will be dedicated to self care?

Nurse at Fort Irwin CA! My son just turned 16 and I got him this cake ?? -Jamie J.

We went live on Facebook for my baby’s first birthday. Everyone could watch him have his smash cupcake.
