“Our house seemed so empty when he left. Not to mention, we are alone out here, disconnected from the military. Having a little extra money to make something special happen, learning to play the drums, kept our spirits up.” Melissa Miller recalls of her recent deployment experience. “The grant made a real difference to us.”
In the last ten years, Our Military Kids has helped tens of thousands of families like the Warrens and Millers breath a little easier and smile a little more. A small grant won’t replace the emptiness of a home or the sting of another missed graduation because a parent deployed. However, it can bring a sense of normalcy back to a family by allowing a child to Pointe ballet or learn how to play rock and roll on the drums. It allows for a military to child thrive – never missing a beat to the deployment drum.
