#7: Perform Better Than You Would In-Office
We are getting a sweet deal as remote workers, there’s no doubt about it. One of the main reasons telecommuting has exploded in recent years as a desirable working arrangement, is that workers are so much happier and more productive when they don’t have to spend hours a day in the car commuting and can work in the comfort of their own home.
But the fact is, we often need to prove ourselves and our value a bit more than workers in the office. We don’t want anyone thinking we are sitting in bed in our pajamas, eating potato chips with episodes of Grey’s Anatomy playing in the background while we work and so our pride alone makes us work harder and produce more.
I’m very thankful that my company has accommodated me to work overseas and I never want them to regret that decision. I often try to imagine how I would be working if I was in-office, how much I would be producing and then do even more. It never hurts to go above and beyond especially in a long-distance relationship.
