THE NATIONAL FATHER’S DAY COMMITTEE AND ESQUIRE ANNOUNCE CALL FOR 2017 ALL-STAR DAD AWARD NOMINATIONS

All-Star Dad to Be Honored at 76th Annual Father of the Year Awards in New York City

New York, NY – March 15, 2017 – The National Father’s Day Committee, in partnership with Esquire and the Sani Family Foundation, has announced an open call for 2017 All-Star Dad award nominations, a prestigious national honor that acknowledges a dad who truly encapsulates the importance of fatherhood, has proven himself as an exemplar of the community, and has shown dedication to leadership and service in his lifetime. The award will be presented at a luncheon commemorating the 76th Annual Father of the Year Awards to be held on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at the New York Hilton Hotel.

The selected father will win a trip for four to NYC, and be included in a group of distinguished fathers, among them Michael Strahan, NFL legend and cohost of ABC’s Good Morning America,  and Marvin R. Ellison, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of JCPenney.

To nominate your father as this year’s All-Star Dad, please visit www.allstardad.org and submit an essay of 250 words or less explaining why the father you are nominating should receive this honor.

“Year after year, we are thrilled to celebrate an everyday dad who is committed to his community, family and career,” said Dan Orwig, Chairman of the National Father’s Day Committee. “This is a special award for our organization that we are proud to present to a true All-Star.”

Esquire is proud to support the National Father’s Day Committee in hosting their 76th Annual celebration,” said Jack Essig, SVP and Publisher for Esquire. “This distinguished organization hosts an incredible event that not only recognizes deserving fathers but improves the lives of children and families through its Save the Children’s U.S. Programs.”

Over the course of 76 years, the Father of the Year Awards has recognized some of the most notable men in our nation’s history, including Presidents John F. Kennedy and George W. Bush, Vice President Joe Biden, General Colin Powell, Joe Namath and Shaquille O’Neal. Former All-Star Dads include Master Sergeant Christopher Irving, Major Jackson Drumgoole II and Captain Scott M. Smiley. The Council has always strived to support worthwhile causes, while enhancing the meaning of Father’s Day and encouraging universal observance.

Proceeds from the event benefit Save the Children’s U.S. Programs. As part of its commitment to support meaningful philanthropies dealing with issues affecting mothers, fathers and children, the National Father’s Day/Mother’s Day Council, Inc. has donated more than $30 million to date to meaningful charities nationwide.
