The Military Wives Choirs are back for Christmas 2016 – with their biggest release yet. Featuring over 1000 wives, from 65 choirs across the UK and overseas, ‘Home for Christmas’ is an inspirational collection of twelve Christmas carols and songs.

Following the enormous success of No. 1 single Wherever You Are in 2012, Military Wives Choirs have been set up across the country and abroad, bringing more and more women from within the military community closer together through singing.

Released in 2012, the debut album ‘In My Dreams’ featured five choirs. ‘Stronger Together’ shortly followed, featuring 760 choir members from 24 choirs.

With 65 participating choirs, ‘Home for Christmas’ is the Military Wives’ biggest project yet. The Choirs, comprising 1006 singers, can be heard on the title track Home for Christmas, and the album also features six classic carols which have been updated with lyrics reflecting what Christmas means to women in the military community. Produced by BMG, and steered by three accomplished choral conductors – Hilary Davan Wetton, Will Dawes and Mark De-Lisser – ‘Home for Christmas’ could be Military Wives Choirs’ most influential release to date.

Sue Daniels, Chair, Military Wives Choirs Foundation, comments: “We are delighted with the continued achievements and growth of the Military Wives Choirs network. The festive season can be a difficult time, particularly for those within the military community. By creating ‘Home for Christmas’, Military Wives are supporting each other through music – and extending this unity to families throughout the UK, and across the world.

The Military Wives Choirs beautiful collection of songs embodies the true spirit of Christmas – its religious significance, love, family and harmony.

To accompany the release, throughout November 17 choirs will be touring seven cathedrals across the UK. Dates Include:

  • Winchester Cathedral – 21st November
  • Durham Cathedral – 22nd November
  • Bradford Cathedral – 25th November
  • Norwich Cathedral – 26th November
  • Exeter Cathedral – 28th November
  • Lichfield Cathedral – 29th November
