Union Institute & University salutes our military families and details our approach to serving veterans and their families.
Adult education regardless of where you live and work
Military families never have to worry about their higher educational needs because Union specializes in adult education and has since 1964. The academic programs and services are the result of more than five decades of identifying and refining ways to structure and deliver education to meet the needs of adults. Distinguished as the pioneer in adult education, Union perfected the concepts now common in higher education such as the hybrid model, a blend of online and traditional classroom instruction, interdisciplinary studies, and student centered education with socially relevant and applicable learning outcomes in its undergraduate, master’s and doctoral degree programs.
“UI&U is a great school for military families because the average military family moves up to nine times in a career,” said Ashley S. Finkes, Director of Marketing. “Enrollment at Union means we move with you.”
Veterans in Union program
The Veterans in Union program is a seamless educational approach for the veteran. It includes a three-term $7500 living allowance stipend ($2500 per term) and the following resources:
- Virtual Veterans Resource Center
- Personalized attention from university team staff who understand the unique needs of veterans
- Personalized student success services, including ADA, academic and writing support, lifestyle transition social services
- Consistent progress monitoring
- Monthly career transition seminars
- Career coaching/military friendly employer matching
- Graduation and employment guidance
Military experience applied
Union is honored to provide the veteran with the opportunity to secure full credit for military education and experience. Fieldwork can’t be measured in a classroom, so we allow you to use your experience toward credits.
The ACE Credit Assessment Services allows the veterans to transfer much of the training received in the military into academic credits.
Spouse-driven
Union is proud to offer scholarships to our veterans and active duty military members including National Guard/Reservists and spouses and dependents. Learn more at this link.
Military Friendly
UI&U is in the Top 25% of Military Friendly Schools and earned the 2017 Military Friendly® School designation by Victory Media, publisher of G.I. Jobs®, STEM Jobs SM, and Military Spouse. First published in 2009, Military Friendly® Schools is the most comprehensive, powerful resource for veterans today.
“How many universities can offer the opportunity to complete college, a master’s, or even a Ph.D. from anywhere in the world?” asks Finkes. “Not very many, that is why Union is the right choice for today’s veterans.”
