MIND OVER MONEY
3. Mint
Laugh all you want, but I still use a big giant log book to track the monthly finances for the joint account I have with my husband. There is something so satisfying about writing down and crossing out each bill that has been taken care of each pay period. However, when it comes time for me to track my personal spending money and figure out what I should be cutting back on and what I can afford to splurge on I use Mint. It’s a free app and super helpful! After seeing just how much I was spending on red cups, I finally broke down and bought a coffee maker for home. If you’re trying to establish a budget, this app will really break down the way you spend your money and help you figure out what needs to be set aside for each type of expenses your family has.
4. Walmart Savings Catcher
I live less than a mile away from a Target (and am there at least twice a week) so you’d think that the Cartwheel app would be the hot app on my list, but to be honest that one makes me a little crazy. I don’t have the patience for that. With the WalMart Savings Catcher I don’t have to do anything other than scan a receipt and see my savings. What it does is compares the items you purchased at WalMart to the stores in your area; if somewhere else is advertising a lower price, well then WalMart gives you the savings back! No coupons needed. No price matching at the register. Just money back. Doesn’t get much easier than that!
