Out with the old, in with the new!
Just as we clean out our own closets, retailers do the same. As they get ready to roll out new items from manufacturers for this summer, they’ll purge their inventory from last year – that includes shoes too! TIME Magazine’s Mark Di Vincenzo wrote an article years ago and it still holds true today. He has done mounds of research to find out when the best time to shop is and when it comes to shoes, the journalist points to April saying, “Athletic shoe stores offer great sales in April, when non-serious runners star hitting the pavement again.”
Shop it to me! Online Shopping Days
Di Vincenzo turned to ShopItToMe.com for more statistics and found that the San Francisco company analyzes more than 750,000 sale items each year from more than 200 retailers. The company ran averages and plotted the days on a calendar to help people just like you save as much money as possible. Take a look at their research when it comes to online shopping:
■ Mondays: Shoppers can save nearly 50% on men’s and women’s dress pants, and about 55% on sunglasses.
■ Tuesdays: Expect to save more than 40% on men’s apparel.
■ Wednesdays: Shoppers save about 40% on shoes and children’s clothes.
■ Thursdays: Save 36% on handbags.
■ Fridays: Pay 42% less for jewelry, belts and scarves.
■ Saturdays: Lingerie (37% off) and jackets/outerwear (51% off).
■ Sundays: Swimsuits (52% off).
Don’t forget to ask for the military discount
Savings on top of savings…it can be euphoric. Some retailers will offer a military discount on top of discounts, while others say no sir, you’re already saving a ton of money with this clearance item! But it never hurts to ask.
