2) My pride– not only can my husband NOT publicly stand up and decry the injustices being done to him and the military, but if I do, I’m painted as a money-hungry, welfare-receiving, right-wing nut job with nothing better to do than shop at the commissary and have babies. Newsflash- we don’t receive any “welfare,” we don’t have a commissary, I have less babies than Pelosi, and after the atrociousness of the budget vote- I am no longer a Republican. Embrace that.
3) Our kids as they graduate college– It has long been our plan to use my husband’s hard earned retirement to assist our children with college. The recent retirement hijacking just completely stole that from them. Will they still go to college? Most likely. It’s always been their decision. Did they just lose what little financial assistance they were promised from us? No. Because- unlike our government- we keep our promises no matter how much it hurts. That’s the “honor” part of “Honor, Courage, Commitment”. That’s the “Semper” part of “Semper Fidelis“. ALWAYS faithful.
