Mom’s Chocolate Chip Cookies

Betty Crocker I am not. I am great at cooking, but baking has always alluded me. However, when my big, bad Marine came to visit the first time after we got married, I had the desire to be Super Wife! So I did what any good wife would do and performed a little recon with his family to surprise him with his favorite home baked chocolate chip cookies. With the help of a Pampered Chef baking stone I made the most amazing, non-burnt cookies ever. And when he tried them I got the best compliment….”just like Mom makes.”

 Mom’s Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients:

3 ½ cups Flour

¾ teaspoon salt

1 ½ teaspoon baking soda

1 cup butter

½ cup white sugar

1 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

3 eggs

½ bag of the 10 ounce Semi-Sweet chips

Directions:

*Pre-heat the oven to 375.

*Mix sugars, butter, salt, and baking soda with mixer until smooth.

*Add vanilla and eggs and mix well.

*Put 2 ½ cups of flour in and mix with mixer. If you have a mixer that can handle it, add the rest of the flour. If your mixer can’t handle it a big spoon will work just as well. I used a big spoon for the whole thing despite having a top of the line Kitchenaid Mixer.

*Spoon out onto an ungreased cookie sheet or baking stone, about 2 inches apart. I make ridiculously large cookies so it takes 10-12 minutes to bake them. Smaller cookies will be 9-11 minutes. You’ll know they are done when they are a perfect golden color and the whole house starts to smell amazing!

*Let cool if you have the self-control and serve with ice cold milk. If you do amazingly large cookies like I do you can also make your own version of ice cream sandwiches.

Let’s be friends!
