4. Lighted Walkway Jars
Warning: Your children will sense snow in the house and the magnetic draw to the SnoWonder used in this project is unstoppable. Don’t fight it – instead, enlist their help and you will all have fun putting this together.
Start with wide-mouth canning jars – the cheaper, the better. You can find these at places like Target or Wal-Mart, or your local hardware store.
Mix the SnoWonder according to package directions. A little really does make a lot, so a bucket of snow is unnecessary – unless of course you want to blanket your yard with synthetic snow and have fun watching the neighbors’ reaction! We ordered the smallest amount possible – four packets – from snowonder.com for $12.95. (Check the company’s website or Facebook page for specials.) One packet will suffice for this project, but the kids will appreciate playing with the extra.
Fill a jar about one-quarter full with SnoWonder. If you get SnoWonder on the sides of the jar, just brush it away with a small paint brush. Next, gently put about a cup of fresh cranberries on top of the SnoWonder. Lastly, place a white votive candle on top of the cranberries. Voila!
These look great aligned on your front porch steps. Lit at night, they warmly welcome holiday guests. If you prefer, use battery-operated candles instead.
*** Keep in mind, the SnoWonder won’t last for weeks without some occasional water spritzing. And you would hate to have your approaching guests wonder about the rancid smell coming from your fresh cranberries. Unless it’s particularly cool where you are, make these a few days before guests arrive, or check them every couple of days for freshness.
