5. Circle Frenzy Garland
Drumroll, please… Our last, but certainly not least, decor idea! You are a crafty group – if you don’t have the necessary items or skill to make this one, we think you have a neighbor or friend who can help. Fire up your sewing machine, dust off your craft punches and grab a handful of holiday scrapbooking paper. Is that movie from earlier still playing? Cozy up on the couch and start punching – your paper, that is.
We used three different sized circle punches – medium, large, and extra large – and made about six dozen circles. The amount of circles you will need depends on how long you want your garland for the decorating area. Our dining room hutch sports a single strand with a few circles left over. Adjust your stack of circles according to your needs.
Next, start sewing. It doesn’t take nearly as long as you would think, we promise. As you go, wrap your garland around an empty paper towel or wrapping paper roll to avoid a tangled mess. You’ll be done sewing before you know it – the hardest part is deciding where to hang your crafty creation. Create a swag valance across a window, drape it along the top of a mirror, between a doorway… try using poster putty to keep it in place on flat surfaces.
Shopping list: Craft punches ($5.99-$11.99, on sale), 12×12 paper pack ($11.99, on sale) from Michaels. If you’re a crafter, you likely have these items in your craft stash, which brings the cost of this project down to nil.
