Simple Simon Quick Decor
We promised some quick decorating ideas that cost next to nothing (because they rely on items you already own) and here they are.
Lit Wine Bottle
Put those empty wine bottles from late-night gift wrapping sessions to good use! Pop a small string of lights into an empty and clean, dry wine bottle, tie a pretty ribbon around the top and plug it in. Group a set of three together on a mantle or bookshelf for maximize prettiness.
Upside-Down Wine Glass
If they are not all otherwise being used, take some wine glasses, flip them upside down and top with a red tea candle. Pop a sprig of holly underneath the glass and you have a delicately beautiful centerpiece for your holiday table setting.
Fruitful Hurricane
Layer some fruit inside an extra hurricane lantern – limes, fresh cranberries, lemons or small oranges and fresh greens. Instant, festive centerpiece.
Pretty Pots
Pluck the dead annuals from your porch pots and replace them with some pinecones, oversized ornaments and sprigs of greens (which you can snip from the trees in the yard or find at your local nursery). Got extra strings of lights? A small strand would add some nice sparkle.
Sparkly Sink
Remember that extra garland from our first idea at the beginning of this article? Take a string of lights, entwine them with the garland and place it on the back side of a bathroom sink. This works best in a bathroom of a responsible adult – kids, lights and water don’t mix well.
From our family to yours, we wish you a festive and frugally, yet beautifully decorated holiday season!
