Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society
It isn’t exactly a big secret that when emergencies happen the first place that gets hit is often the bank account. Cars give up on us the day after a warranty expires. Family emergencies back home occur when the travel funds are non-existent. Two pink lines appear just as you and your spouse have gotten a strong budget plan for a family of two down to a science. When these things happen and you start to panic about how you will make ends meet, NMCRS is the place to turn for help.
Their mission is “to provide, in partnership with the Navy and Marine Corps, financial, educational and other need-based assistance to active-duty and retired Sailors and Marines, their eligible family members and survivors.” They work with those people that are struggling financially to make a plan and cover the gap between what you have in the bank and what you need to survive an emergency.
Not only that, even when you’re not in time of crisis they can help out! Their financial counselors are there to help you create a sound budget, teach you and your spouse how to budget for the new bundle of joy headed your way, or even just make sure that the financial path you are currently on is going to get you to the goals you have set.
They aren’t a bank and they aren’t there to judge when you come into their office in need. The people working at the NMCRS are some of the most compassionate and understanding people you can turn to when you feel like you’re drowning and can’t get your feet back on solid financial ground.
