Out With the Old, In With the New…Skin!

Spring Cleaning: Out with the old, in with the new—skin that is!  The cold season can leave skin dull, dry, and cracked.  Exfoliating your skin regularly will remove dead skin cells from the epidermis and reveal radiant skin glowing in time for the summer.

Mechanical Exfoliators

The use of mechanical exfoliators allows you to buff away dry skin while in the comfort of your home.  Consisting of ingredients like small beads, seeds, or ground nuts these products work to soften dry skin. You will want to steer clear of brands that use jagged seed or nut shells, as these are known to irritate and damage skin.

AHA vs. BHA

Ready to get more in depth? Schedule a consult with your aesthetician to check out the latest in chemical resurfacing treatments. Specialized treatments are great for intense exfoliation, lightening and brightening and deep moisturization. Get started now because you will see the best results if you maintain a series of treatments.

Suffer from chapped lips?

All winter, the weather showed you no love and left your lips cracked and bleeding . Consider  removing that chapped skin with a petroleum based moisturizer. Wet your lips and apply a liberal amount of lip moisture. Let sit for 10 minutes then remove with a warm cloth or face buff. You could also try a lip exfoliator. Follow both of these treatments with a conditioner to keep your lips feeling soft.

Soak your tootsies.

Your toes have been in hiding for months. Before they make their big debut, don’t forget to remove that rough skin from your heels. Soak your feet in warm water with some vinegar for 5-10 minutes. Follow this with a pumice stone to easily remove dead skin. Finish off with your favorite foot cream and slip into some socks.

But wait! Some final notes…

Water.

I hate to sound like mom, but there is an important step to all this-water. You should drink ample water each day, but water is particularly important when incorporating any resurfacing treatments in your regimen.

Cover up.

Protect your baby soft skin as if…well, as if it was a baby. Purchase the appropriate SPF protection and reapply as needed whether at the beach or around town. Look like a fashion pro with cute sun hats while shielding yourself from the sun’s rays. Your friends will admire your style!

See a professional regularly.

Facial services are essential to your overall well-being. They can improve your skin’s appearance and aid in circulation among many other benefits. Why not go see the friend you never knew you had in your aesthetician? They know you better than you know yourself.
