VISION INSURANCE: I Can See Clearly Now….

TRICARE also offers vision insurance that covers a limited number of ocular needs. Like health insurance, vision insurance varies depending on your elected coverage: prime or standard.

All infants, whether their sponsor elected Prime or Standard insurance, are covered for one routine eye and vision screening at birth and at 6 months

Prime:

Dependants, (and children ages 3-6) with Prime coverage who are sponsored by an active duty service member are covered for an annual routine eye exam per calendar year from a network optometrist or opthamologist.

Standard:

Spouses, (and children ages 3-6) with Standard coverage who are sponsored by an active duty service member are covered for an annual routine eye exam per calendar year from any TRICARE-authorized optometrist or opthamologist.

Lenses, either contacts or glasses, are not cost-shared with a few exceptions, for example, infantile glaucoma and keratoconus.  For more exceptions and information about TRICARE vision benefits, contact your regional contractor.
